Nikita Kucherov Named First Star of the Week for Second Straight Week cover image

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov has been on fire as of late, and it's getting massive recognition from the NHL.

Over the past week, Kucherov helped lead the Lightning to a sweep of the California road trip and the Lightning's win streak grew to seven games.  He had three goals and a total of 10 points in his last three games. His best performance was undoubtedly his five-point night against the San Jose Sharks on Saturday, as he helped lead the Lightning to a 7-3 victory.

Kucherov continues to lead the Lightning in points, and he's slowly inching his way up the leaderboard league-wide. Currently, he's fourth in points with 59, behind just Nathan MacKinnon, Connor McDavid, and Macklin Celebrini.

Kucherov is certainly still a bit off of the pace to win a third straight Art Ross Trophy for most points in the NHL, but if the last two weeks are anything to go off of, he certainly still has time to get himself back in that conversation.

Kucherov and the Lightning will be back in action tonight, as they return home for a one-game homestand against the Colorado Avalanche before heading on the road for the next two weeks.
