Nikita Kucherov has won quite a few player of the week and player of the month awards this season, and he added another one to his resume on Friday. He was named the NHL Players Association's Player of the Week for the week of March 6 to March 12.
During that time, Kucherov led the league with 10 points in just four games, seven of which came while at even strength. His eight assists also led the league during that time span.
Kucherov is currently third in points across the NHL, trailing just the Edmonton Oilers' Connor McDavid and the Colorado Avalanche's Nathan MacKinnon. Despite being behind in total points, Kucherov does lead the league in point-per-game pace, averaging 1.77 points per game.
Kucherov is looking to pick up his third straight Art Ross Trophy for most points in the NHL, and although it seemed unlikely just a month ago, now he's certainly in the running. He's also going to be under consideration to win the second Hart Memorial Trophy of his career at this rate.
