Syracuse's Stachowiak and Germany Set to Battle France in Qualification Playoff cover image

As the knockout rounds begin at the 2026 Olympic Games, Wojciech Stachowiak, a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning's American Hockey League affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch, will look to help keep Team Germany alive.

Stachowiak and Germany have picked up just one victory in this year's Olympics so far, as they defeated Denmark in their opening match-up, 3-1. That game also marked Stachowiak's only point of the tournament to date, as he picked up an assist in over 16 minutes of ice time.

Since then though, his time has dropped considerably. He played just under five minutes against Latvia, before being taken out of the lineup against the United States.

Germany will face the win-less Team France on Tuesday to decide who moves on to the quarterfinal and who goes home. It'll be the first of four elimination games on Tuesday, with Switzerland, Italy, Sweden, Latvia, Czechia and Denmark all also looking to extend their run.

At this time, it's unknown if Stachowiak will get an opportunity to play against France or if he'll be out of the lineup once again, but we'll see what happens when the teams take the ice in the early morning hours on Tuesday.
