It took a while, but the Tampa Bay Lightning have made a trade ahead of today’s Trade Deadline.
The Lightning reunited with veteran forward Corey Perry, sending the Los Angeles Kings a second round draft pick in return.
The 40 year old previously spent two seasons with the Lightning. He joined the Bolts ahead of the 2021-22 season, signing as a free agent.
He’d depart the Lightning following the 2022-23 season, joining the Chicago Blackhawks before ultimately ending up with the Edmonton Oilers.
He signed with the Kings this past summer, and although it was reported that he was expected to stay in Los Angeles and sign an extension, the Kings opted to send him back to Florida instead.
In 50 games this season, Perry has scored 11 goals and tallied a total of 28 points despite being in his 40s at this stage. During his last stint with the Lightning, he appeared in 163 games while scoring 31 goals and totaling 65 points.
