Tampa Bay Lightning Key Defenseman Out With Injury

The Tampa Bay Lightning are expected to be without one of their key defensemen for a bit.

While speaking with reporters, Lightning head coach Jon Cooper shared that defenseman Emil Lilleberg is expected to miss a week of action due to injury.

Lilleberg was not in the Lightning's lineup during their most recent game against the Philadelphia Flyers. The Lightning won the matchup by a 4-1 final score.

Lilleberg suffered his injury during a fight with Washington Capitals defenseman Vincent Desharnais on Saturday.

Lilleberg has appeared in one game this season for the Lightning, where he has zero points, three hits, and five penalty minutes. This comes after he had four goals, eight assists, 12 points, 61 penalty minutes, 96 hits, and a plus-15 rating in 50 games for the Lightning during this past season.

It will now be interesting to see how the Lightning perform while Lilleberg is sidelined from here.
