Tonight’s match-up is an important one for the Tampa Bay Lightning. As they inch closer to the playoffs, it’s crucial they grab every point they can.
After an uncharacteristic 9-2 loss to Florida on Saturday night, they believe their response will illustrate the type of team they are.
“I think we're in a good place, you know. We have a good record here at home and we've been playing some good hockey the last month, really since the new year,” said defenseman Darren Raddysh.
The Senators currently sit in last place in the division and 28th in the league. Regardless of their record, no one is taking them lightly. For the Lightning, Monday’s game is all about proving their ability to move forward after a difficult showing. It's something they maybe would have struggled with early on in the season.
“Like Stammer said, the response is what's going to matter, so we're going to be ready for tonight. They have a good hockey team over there," said Raddysh.
The last time the Lightning lost a game like they did on Saturday night, was earlier in the year to Dallas. They responded with a 4-0 win over the Stars and a 3-1 win over the Penguins. When the Lightning dictate the pace of the game, they are one of the hardest teams in the league to beat.
“I think we've got to be a little bit harder in our own end. We've got to make plays when they're there and move the puck up to the forwards,” said Raddysh. “We've got a good group up there and they can make a lot of good plays when they have the puck. I think if we can get them the puck, it will also benefit us in the D zone.”
