The Syracuse Crunch's top scorer, Jakob Pelletier, is getting another shot with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Ahead of the Lightning's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday, the team announced that they had recalled Pelletier, 24, from the Crunch. In 35 games this season, Pelletier has scored 19 goals and tallied a total of 41 points at the American Hockey League level.
Pelletier signed with the Lightning as an unrestricted free agent over the summer, after he was not tendered a qualifying offer by the Philadelphia Flyers. A first-round pick by the Calgary Flames in 2019, Pelletier was a highly touted prospect early in his career, but has been unable to find sustained success in the NHL to this point.
This season, Pelletier has made one appearance for the Lightning. He played against the Florida Panthers on November 15th, making his debut for Tampa Bay. He failed to record a point in 6:12 of ice time.
Overall, Pelletier has played in 87 career games in the NHL, scoring 11 goals and tallying a total of 29 points at the highest level of North American hockey.
Pelletier will take a spot on the fourth-line tonight, alongside Oliver Bjorkstrand and Nick Paul.
