The Lightning and Avalanche are playing the first of two matchups this season. Most importantly, it’s Dad’s weekend and the energy is unmatched.

It’s been an up and down season for the Avalanche as they started off with six consecutive wins, then lost five of the next seven. Now they’ve won six of their last seven.

Nathan MacKinnon who has 26 points in 20 games is not confirmed to play tonight citing that he is “under the weather” per Colleen Flynn. Former Lightning standout Ross Colton will be in the lineup against his former team for the first time since he was traded in July. Based on what we've seen and the season he's having, I’d expect him to put a goal up against his former teammates.

Similar to where the Avalanche were during the Stanley Cup Final, their team’s defense has been solid in front of the net. They’re currently a top-five team in shot attempts against, shots against, and scoring chances against.

The goals will come, but the Lightning will need to be responsible in their own zone first, and then worry about generating an offense second. This was something they mastered against Carolina and will look to build upon in Colorado.
