Since coming from behind to win at Amalie Arena last week, Pittsburgh has lost twice and both times were to the Flyers.
The Lightning were struggling last week against this team. They came out strong and built a 2-goal lead in the first period but eventually found themselves paying for every mistake they made. The Penguins scored three times off the rush and then Tristan Jarry sealed it with a “goalie goal” into an empty net, giving them a 4-2 win.
Tonight the Lightning will be looking for a similar result to what they had against Dallas on Monday. The top line of Steven Stamkos, Brayden Point, and Nikita Kucherov were on absolute fire Monday, having a 14-3 edge in unblocked shot attempts and 11-3 in scoring chances. Defense complimented that by playing a full 60 minute game.
Call it revenge or simply just the team wanting to get back on track and build good habits. The goal here is to grab two points at home before hitting the road for five games.
This probably goes without saying, but if the Lightning can avoid turnovers again tonight, they have a very strong chance of sending Pittsburgh home with a third straight loss.
