The Canucks are considered somewhat of a “surprise team” this season. They own the second spot in the Pacific Division partially due to the success of Quinn Hughes and Elias Pettersson. After their loss to the Lightning on October 19th, the Canucks won eight of their next nine games. They’re a strong team defensively, allowing just 2.6 goals per game.

As for the Lightning, they had an optional skate today that did include Victor Hedman. The top defenseman missed the third period on Saturday night against Seattle with an undisclosed injury.

Lightning coach Jon Cooper has also indicated that the flu has been going around the locker room. This morning the team recalled Mitchel Chaffee and Philippe Myers from Syracuse, likely as a precautionary move in the case that players have to miss the game tonight due to illness. Given the bumpy start to the season, the Lightning will want to have a strong next couple of games and grab a few points on the road. Puck drop is at 10pm EST.
