The Tampa Bay Lightning will have many players fighting for spots on their NHL roster at training camp.
One player who has the potential to make the Lightning's roster for the start of the season is forward Jakob Pelletier.
Pelletier appeared in just five games for the Lightning last season, where he was held off the scoresheet. However, when looking at how much he dominated the AHL last season with the Syracuse Crunch, the possibility of him getting more chances with the Bolts next season should not be ruled out.
Pelletier was fantastic for the Crunch this past season. In 63 games with the Crunch, he scored 28 goals and led all AHL players with 77 points.
With offensive numbers like these in the AHL, Pelletier has certainly made himself a case to at least be considered for the Lightning's opening night roster. They have spots to fight for, and if Pelletier has strong training camp, it could help him make the Lightning's roster.
It will be interesting to see what happens on that front, but Pelletier is undoubtedly a player to watch once we get to the preseason.
