Victor Hedman became the first Lightning defenseman and third player ever in franchise history to reach the 1,000 game milestone.

Dec 4, 2023; Tampa, Florida, USA; Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman (77) is honored before the game for his 1000 game against the Dallas Stars at Amalie Arena.

Victor Hedman became the first Lightning defenseman and third player ever in franchise history to reach the 1,000 game milestone. He joins both Vinny Lecavalier (1,037) and Steven Stamkos (1,027).

The Lightning celebrated Hedman's milestone with a much-needed win against Dallas.

"Dallas is a phenomenal team and you know, obviously I think we've actually played better in some games that we've lost than we did today but Vasy was big and guys were working hard and we were able to capitalize on opportunities," said Hedman.

"They're going to be a tough team to beat in the West, that's for sure. The way they played, the way they have strengths in all four lines, unbelievable goaltending. That's going to be a tough team to play against, but very proud of the guys and the way we controlled today."
