Surprisingly, there have been a number of players to wear the number 62 for the Tampa Bay Lightning over the years.

Andrei Nazarov was the first to don the number, taking it when he arrived midway through the 1997-98 season from the San Jose Sharks. All in all, Nazarov played 40 games for the Bolts which were spread across two seasons. Around the midway point of the 1998-99 season, Nazarov was on his way out of Tampa, as he headed to a Canadian team, the Calgary Flames, for the first and only time in his career.

The Lightning’s fifth-round pick in 1999, Kaspars Atasenko, was the next player to wear the number 62. He originally wore the 49 sweater during his first partial season, but closed out his time with the Lightning in the 62. He only appeared in 23 career NHL games. After a few seasons of kicking around in the minor leagues, he went back to Europe for the remainder of his career.

6-foot-7 defenseman Andrej Sustr is likely the player that comes to mind first when Lightning fans picture the number 62. During his first stint with the Lightning, he spent parts of six seasons patrolling the Bolts’ blue line. When he returned to Tampa during the 2021-22 season though, he took the number 29.

Danick Martel then took over the number for nine games during the 2018-19 season. During that time he played his only NHL games as a member of the Lightning and recorded just two points.

Most recently, Jack Finley wore the number 62 over the past couple of seasons. After 23 NHL games though, the Lightning’s second-round selection from the 2020 Draft was claimed off of waivers by his hometown team, the St. Louis Blues.
