Punk, an avid Chicago Blackhawks fan, couldn't resist pointing out the Maple Leafs' recent playoffs exit.
It's not easy being a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs these days and NHL Network and WWE host Jackie Redmond found out the hard way.
CM Punk was making his way to the ring for an in-ring segment on Monday Night Raw but before he stepped out onto the stage he got a glimpse of Redmond backstage.
"How about those Maple Leafs Redmond?" he shouted as his entrance music hit.
Punk, a native of Chicago, is a huge Chicago Blackhawks fan. Punk's chirp comes following the Maple Leafs' first-round exit to the Boston Bruins in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The Maple Leafs have become an easy target and punchline for their difficulties getting over the hump having only won one playoff round since 2004. The Boston Bruins defeated the Maple Leafs 2-1 in overtime after they were up 3-1 early in their series. The Maple Leafs won the next two games and had a 1-0 lead in the third period before giving up the tying goal in regulation and the winner in overtime.

But alas, the Maple Leafs weren't able to come back and the strays will continue to be fired at Leafs fan, at least for another year.
The chirps continued after Raw went off the air.
"There's always next year," Punk said to Redmond and before adding "You should expect better from the Leafs".
