Leading the team with three points in three games, Domi has just one shot on goal this season.
One of Max Domi's biggest strengths since joining the Toronto Maple Leafs has been his play-making ability in addition to his versatility of being able to play at the wing or center position.
Expected to play in his second game of the season at center when his club hosts the Los Angeles Kings at Scotiabank Arena on Wednesday, Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube wants to see Domi score some goals.
"I think he moves a lot better in the middle, y, I would say, and moving his feet. You know, he's a very good playmaker. So when he gets open ice and gets some speed going, he can really skate. He's dangerous. He can make plays," Berube said following the team's optional skate on Wednesday. "In saying that, he should shoot more. He had a couple of opportunities, and, you know, he passed up on some shots. So it's, you know, we're trying to get him to shoot a little bit more on his opportunities."

Domi leads all Maple Leafs in points with three assists in three games, which is a bit of a surprise, but it has more to do with the club getting more depth scoring thus far. Auston Matthews is also without a point through three games. But Domi also has just one shot on goal this season and it happened in the club's season-opening 1-0 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Oct. 9.
Domi has been insistent that he doesn't mind playing wing or center, but some of his best games last season came when he moved to the middle. The lone exception came down the stretch when Domi moved to the right side of Matthews and Tyler Bertuzzi (now with the Chicago Blackhawks.

"I mean, he can play anywhere. He's such a good playmaker, a good player," Nick Robertson said of Domi. "The thing with him...I don't know if he's sneaky or underrated anymore because you've seen it so often."
With Domi also deployed on the club's second power play and struggling to find the back of the net through the first three games, it's no surprise Berube is preaching more shots on goal.
Leafs 0-for-9 with the man-advantage and Berube has been using PP2 more than previous head coach Sheldon Keefe used to use them.
