The Maple Leafs' home venue teased a Slipknot concert announcement and Leafs fans were certainly relating to the "pain".
The Toronto Maple Leafs take on the Boston Bruins in Game 5 of their first-round playoff series on Tuesday. With Toronto down 3-1 in the best-of-seven competition, Maple Leafs fans aren't feeling overly optimistic about their beloved team's chances coming back.
It doesn't help when Toronto's home arena, Scotiabank Arena, is firing off subtle reminders of the current state of the team.
On Tuesday, the arena's social media account posted a teaser for an upcoming Slipknot concert with the words "Here Comes The Pain".
Some Leafs fans immediately thought this was about the team and had some fun with it.
The term "pain" has been part of the Maple Leafs' lexicon since 2015 when Mike Babcock was introduced as head coach of the team. At the time, he references pain several times as part of the team's rebuilding process.

Many years later, fans of the Leafs have referenced "pain" during Toronto's hardships. So when fans saw the post, it wasn't a surprise to see the initial reaction be one of an attack.
"Here Comes The Pain" is actually the name of Slipknot's tour that was announced on Tuesday. It's hilarious timing no doubt.
The Leafs need to win three straight games if they have any hope of defeating the Bruins for the first time in a playoff series since 1959.
