The Toronto Maple Leafs received good news on the team’s leading goal-scorer, William Nylander.

After an injury scare in Boston on Tuesday, the 28-year-old assured reporters on Friday that he's ready to go as the Leafs prepare for their evening matchup against the New York Rangers.

“I felt like I couldn’t go and perform at my best at that point. And so, yeah, it was tough. Tough to feel like that,” Nylander said, explaining his absence from overtime against Boston.

When asked if he was dealing with any aftereffects, Nylander quickly responded, “No, I’m fine, I’m fine.”

At practice, the Swede resumed his usual spot on the second line alongside John Tavares and Pontus Holmberg, showing no signs of discomfort.

He appears ready to partake in his regular role.

Head coach Craig Berube echoed Nylander’s sentiment after Friday’s skate, reassuring that the forward is good to go against the Rangers.

“Business as usual, he feels good,” said Berube. “Something happened in the game, he didn’t feel that he could go out there in overtime. That’s all that was. But he’s 100 percent today.”

Berube didn’t provide specifics on Nylander’s issue, which has now seemingly been resolved. However, during Tuesday’s game, Nylander was seen on the bench with his gloves off, seemingly working through discomfort in his wrist or hand.

Nylander has been one of Toronto’s most consistent performers this season, playing in every game so far while leading the team with 33 goals to go along with 25 assists and 58 points in 58 contests.

The club undoubtedly dodged a bullet and instead looks to carry their momentum into Madison Square Garden in search of their fourth consecutive win.
