Hit Toronto artist Drake releases some serious sports neck-wear and the Maple Leafs are front and center.
Canadian rapper Drake recently unveiled his new Toronto sports chain on Instagram and it even has a name, “The Crown Jewel of Toronto.” The chain, designed by New York-based jeweller Alex Moss, features the top of the CN Tower cradled by the 1990s and 2000s logos of the NBA’s Toronto Raptors and MLB’s Toronto Blue Jays, and an extended pennant of the former Toronto Maple Leafs logo.
The Leafs logo pennant includes a storage compartment to an extra pennant of the key to the city which was awarded to Drake in 2016 in Toronto and this summer in Memphis. All these details are covered in 18-carat gold and VVS (Very, Very Slightly Included) diamonds ranging from yellow, blue and emerald-cut diamonds as well as Burmese rubies.
Drake also features the chain in the music video for his song 8 AM in Charlotte, a track from his new album “For All the Dogs.”
Drizzy has shown his love for the Leafs and his avid support for hockey on several occasions. On the Toronto stop of his “It’s All A Blur Tour” on Oct. 7, Drake walked out with Maple Leafs legend Tie Domi. It wasn’t the first time Drake has paid homage to Domi, as he posted a picture of the Leafs enforcer in an Instagram story in 2018 – from Game 6 of the 2002 Eastern Conference semifinal against the Ottawa Senators showing a bloody-faced Domi – in response to his feud with rapper Pusha-T.
In April 2019, Drake appeared at Game 4 of the NHL playoffs between Toronto and Boston at Scotiabank Arena, where the Leafs would lose 6-4 to the Bruins tying the series at 2-2. However, despite his love for the Leafs, some may argue he has a liking for the Montreal Canadiens due to his reference to the team in his song More M’s part of his 2022 collaboration album with Atlanta rapper 21 Savage.

Before he became famous, Drizzy laced up his skates as a child in the Weston Minor Hockey League playing for the house-league Weston Red Wings. Fast-forward to 2012 and Drake performed at the NHL All-Star Game in Ottawa.
With the upcoming NHL All-Star Game in Toronto months away, could we see a potential surprise performance from Drizzy Drake? After all, the last Canadian city to host all-star weekend was Ottawa and this would make Drake’s potential All-Star Game performance in Toronto a special one if he went onstage in his native city as well as entertaining at the event for the second time in 12 years.
