Leafs practiced on Monday without William Nylander and Max Domi who missed the session due to maintenance, but Steeves is not expected to dress.
The Toronto Maple Leafs announced on Tuesday that they have recalled forward Alex Steeves from the Toronto Marlies on an emergency basis.
The Leafs held practice where they were short on forwards with William Nylander and Max Domi missing the session due to "maintenance".
Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube confirmed that both Nylander and Domi will be in the lineup. He also confirmed that Connor Dewar will make his season debut, meaning Steeves is around an extra forward just in case.
Steeves has nine goals and three assists in 10 games with the Marlies and is closing in on the franchise record for points held by Kris Newbury at 168 points. Steeves has 166 in four seasons with the club.
The Minnesota native was limited to one game with the Maple Leafs last season. The club re-signed the forward to a one-year, two-way contract.
