Maple Leafs Call Up Nick Robertson From Marlies With Aim to Ignite Secondary Scoring Against Lightning, Lineups and Where to Watch

The Maple Leafs will try some new things up front and might get a defenseman back in their lineup.

The Toronto Maple Leafs held their final practice of their regular season opener. Fraser Minten and Noah Gregor earn spots in the opening-night lineup.

The Toronto Maple Leafs (5-4-2) have fewer wins than losses of any variety at this point and are hoping that a change to the forward group will get them out of their current funk.

Matthew Knies will get a look with Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner against the Tampa Bay Lightning (5-3-3) to get the 21-year-old forward going.

Knies has two goals and one assist. All three of his points came the last time the Maple Leafs and Lightning met back on Oct. 21.

The Leafs will utilize Max Domi at the center position. The 28-year-old forward has just four assists in 11 games this season and more and more production is expected from the player the club signed to a one-year, $3 million deal this summer.

Two of Domi's assists this season game in that game against the Lightning.

"It’s a good group, good test and looking forward to match their work ethic and compete every single shift," Domi said of Tampa. "We’re going to need everyone to get this ship going in the right direction and looking forward to the challenge.

The Maple Leafs called up Nick Robertson and sent Pontus Holmberg down. It's expected that Robertson would slot in on Holmberg's spot on Domi's wing.

Robertson has been off to a hot start with the Toronto Marlies with five goals and six assists in nine games this season.

Jake McCabe may make his return to the Leafs' lineup after missing the last four games with a groin injury.

The Lightning are expected to have Tyler Motte return to their lineup. The 28-year-old has been out since Oct. 10 with an upper-body injury.

    Where to watch

In Canada, the game will be streamed on all four Sportsnet regional channels and Sportsnet+. In the Tampa region, the game will be broadcast on Bally Sports and on ESPN+ for the rest of the United States.

Worldwide, the game will stream on NHL Live.
