Toronto Maple Leafs forward Ryan Reaves has never been one to shy away from making headlines, and his recent appearance at former teammate and New York Rangers defenseman Adam Fox's wedding was no exception. Known for his rugged and aggressive style on the ice, Reaves decided to take a unique approach to wedding attire, as seen in an Instagram post he uploaded on Monday.

In the photo, instead of the traditional look of a tuxedo or suit, Reaves opted to go shirtless, accessorizing with a pair of sunglasses for a photo booth session. While he did wear a white dress shirt to the event, this fashion choice showcased his willingness to march to the beat of his own drum, even on such formal occasions.

    It just screams “Reavo”.

The 2021 NHL Norris Trophy winner and Reaves were teammates for parts of two seasons from 2021-23, clearly hitting it off during their time together. As the story goes, Reaves would be traded to the Minnesota Wild in November of 2023 before signing a three-year, $4.05 million contract with the Leafs last July.

The 37-year-old has had quite the summer, to say the least. A few weeks ago, the forward was pictured alongside teammate Max Domi and rapper Snoop Dogg, ahead of his partnership with ‘Death Row Records’ to create a shirt featuring the athlete's face and the words: 'Death Row Hockey'.

General manager Brad Treliving brought Reaves to Toronto in an effort to add more ‘snot’ to the lineup. However, as Reaves stated at the conclusion of the season, “it was a rollercoaster” for the veteran whose season began far from smoothly.

Through 21 games, Reaves had a -11 rating – marking the worst on the team despite playing in half as many games as most of his teammates. His rocky start spiraled into a knee injury suffered in December, leading him to only appear in six games from December 3, 2023, to February 4, 2024. After being scratched for six weeks, Reaves found his footing in the latter half of the season, stating, “It was a tale of two seasons for me, and hopefully, it’s more of the second half next year.”

By the second half of the season, his personality endeared him to fans across Leafs Nation. Through physical play, fights, and a gritty presence, he carved out his role in Toronto. Reaves ended up playing in five of the seven games in the Leafs’ opening-round playoff series against the Boston Bruins, tallying an assist. In 49 regular season games, he finished with four goals, two assists, and a -13 rating.

Amid all the personnel change in Toronto, one thing is certain: Reaves’ one-of-a-kind personality won’t fade. Heading into the 2024-25 season with momentum, Reaves will be seeking to build off the positives and carry it over to his play next fall.
