Bobby McMann is just happy to be taking part in a regular Toronto Maple Leafs practice for the first time in training camp.
However, it doesn't mean he's fully recovered from a series of injuries that carried over into the summer.
"It feels a lot easier, less thinking about it when you're with the guys," McMann said on Tuesday.
It was known for a while now that McMann sustained a knee injury while with the Toronto Marlies. During his second call-up stint with the Toronto Maple Leafs last season, the Alberta native re-aggravated an adductor injury that has continued to linger.
"I jammed up my groin (and) one of my adductors slightly tore," McMann explained.
During a news conference last week, Maple Leafs Brad Treliving revealed that McMann was feeling the effects of his injuries.
So when will he be healthy enough to return?

The good news is McMann wasn't wearing a non-contact jersey. For the 27-year-old, it's just going to be a day-to-day process of physical therapy and feel.
"Some days it's up (and) some days have been down but generally, the trend has always been I'm getting better and that's where I'm at."
McMann had one assist in 10 games in his rookie season with the Maple Leafs. He enjoyed a stellar second season with the Marlies as the 6-foot-2 forward scored 21 goals and added eight assists.

Depending on how the player progresses, there is hope that the forward will get into some games before the end of the pre-season. If McMann isn't cleared to return from his injury before the start of the regular season, the player would carry a prorated cap hit of $190,000 on Toronto's books, according to PuckPedia.com
When he has been on the ice, McMann has been working on his game and playing to his strengths which like with his speed, shot and forecheck.
"That's my bread and butter," Mcmann said. "That's how I make an impact.
