Domi joins fellow Leafs Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, and William Nylander in their love for the sport.

The Maple Leafs made long-term commitments to Chris Tanev and Oliver Ekman-Larsson. Is it enough to remake the look and feel of Toronto's defense?

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi is the newest player from the club to express his passion for tennis.

In an Instagram story posted Thursday, Domi shared a video of himself on a tennis court with a Wimbledon-inspired Babolat bag, calling it his "happy place."

His love for tennis is not unique among the Leafs, as teammates Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner are known to enjoy the sport during their off-time. As seen in the video below, the duo was playing tennis with now-Pittsburgh Penguins forward Michael Bunting in the summer of 2022.

More recently, William Nylander joined the action, pairing up with fellow Swede and 17-year-old junior tennis player William Rejchtman Vinciguerra at the prestigious Wimbledon tournament. In a series of Instagram photos, Nylander seemed to have been invited as a guest to the event, and the duo was videoed presumably getting reps in at the practice courts.

We now know that Domi shares the same sentiment, and really, it shouldn’t be all that surprising. Tennis not only requires top-notch agility and hand-eye coordination, but it serves as a perfect complement to their hockey training regimen. For the Leafs, or hockey players in general, it’s not uncommon to see professional athletes from different sports cross-training because it can help to maintain fitness in the summer months.

After the Wimbledon tournament concluded this past weekend, the focus shifts to the National Bank Open presented by Rogers. Taking place in Toronto from August 3-12, the tournament has been rescheduled due to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Now that Domi has signed in Toronto long-term, on a four-year, $15 million contract, who knows, the 29-year-old and company could be in attendance at the tournament, showing their support and maybe even picking up a few tips from the pros.
