Fresh off a VHL Championship, Toronto Maple Leafs goaltending prospect Artur Akhtyamov added another ring to his collection on Saturday, marrying now-wife Anna Akhtyamov, the couple announced Tuesday on Instagram.

In a carousel posted on Anna’s account, with the caption translated to “The Akhtyamov’s” indicating the couple’s marriage, the images captured plenty of pictures from their wedding day before revealing the rings on the last photo.

“Congratulations! Incredibly beautiful,” one commenter said.

“Such a wonderful family! Congratulations!!!” another added.

Akhtyamov has had quite the year. On the ice, he was most recently crowned the VHL Goaltender of the Year after yet another successful season in 2023-24. The Russian native posted a 10-5-4 record in the regular season with a .927 save percentage and a 2.00 goals-against average for the Neftyanik Almetievsk in the VHL.

In 21 postseason appearances for the club this year, he posted an impressive 16-5-0 record with a 2.15 goals against average, .932 save percentage, and two shutout performances – leading the number nine-seeded Almetievsk to a VHL championship stopping 41 of 43 shots in the deciding Game 4, ultimately being named the Petrov Cup’s Most Valuable Player.

The 22-year-old was drafted in the fourth round (106th overall) in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft by the Leafs. A calendar year ago, he had the best save percentage in the VHL having played the sixth most games and due to his stellar play in Russia, the Leafs signed the standout goaltender to his entry-level contract last summer – a three-year $2.55 million contract with an AAV of $881,667.

As a promising young goaltender prospect, he continues to emerge as a prominent player in the Leafs’ system going forward. It will be interesting to see if he makes the move to North America next fall to join the AHL Toronto Marlies.
