Cowan won the Red Tilson OHL MVP Trophy, J. Ross Robertson Cup, Wayne Gretzky 99 Award for being named OHL Playoff MVP, and made the CHL First All-Star Team in the 2023-24 campaign.
Following the conclusion of an outstanding season with the London Knights, Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan took to Instagram to thank the city of London for their support and wished his teammates who are moving on from the OHL the best of luck going forward.
“Thankyou London for another great year, Goodluck to the guys moving on #champs4L,” Cowan captioned the post.

In a carousel featuring six photos, Cowan displays the team’s J. Ross Robertson Cup championship along with some memorable moments throughout the season. Under the post, Maple Leafs fans expressed their excitement to see Cowan possibly crack the club’s lineup next fall.
“Excited for you to be on the Leafs roster,” one commenter said.
“Can’t wait for you to crack the Leafs’ lineup. Great junior career in London. Now it’s time to have a great career in blue and white! Go Leafs Go,” another said.
Cowan was cut on the final day in his first attempt at making the team out of Leafs camp, but he certainly turned some heads given his performance. At 19 years old, he wouldn’t be eligible to participate for the AHL Toronto Marlies because of the age restriction if once again cut at this year’s Leafs camp – leaving the door to an OHL return slightly open.
Coming off a 4-3 loss in the Memorial Cup Final to the Saginaw Spirit, the Maple Leafs’ first-round pick (28th overall) finished the Memorial Cup with eight points (3G, 5A) in four games.
Leading the way with a 36-game point streak (42 games if you include the postseason), the longest point streak since 1994-95, Cowan had a career-high 96 points in 54 regular season games. In the postseason, Cowan finished the playoffs with 10 goals and 24 assists in 18 games – winning both the regular season and postseason MVP, the first to do it since Mitch Marner did it in 2016.
His 2023-24 campaign was full of accolades and accomplishments. The ‘Cowboy’ won the Red Tilson OHL MVP Trophy, J. Ross Robertson Cup, Wayne Gretzky 99 Award for being named OHL Playoff MVP, and made the CHL First All-Star Team in the 2023-24 campaign.
