Canada's win over Finland earlier in the afternoon rendered Sweden's game against the United States meaningless.

Canada's win over Finland earlier in the afternoon rendered Sweden's game against the United States meaningless.

The Swedes will be playing for pride when they take on the United States of America in the final game of preliminary action at the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament. Following Canada's 5-3 win against Finland on Monday, Sweden was eliminated from the tournament with the Americans and Canadians set to square off in the final on Thursday,

Maple Leafs and Sweden forward William Nylander spoke following the nation's morning skate and was asked about how he'd approach the game. In addition to how he felt his team has performed, He was also asked about Chicago Blackhawks interim head coach Anders Sorensen, with whom both share a coach and peer relationship.

Q: What do you think about the other game being done before you start playing the match?

"Yeah, but as I said, what happens is that you want to play with your best match tonight, regardless of whether we can go on or not. So the thoughts are not changing."

Q: Off-topic, but Anders Sorensen in Chicago, I understand you and your family have a relationship with him. What has he meant for you and your family?

Yeah, I mean, he's coached me since maybe when I was like five, six years old for the first time. He coached me playing pro in Sweden as well. A person that my family has been very close to with his family and, you know, just created a lot of great memories together. And I'm really happy for him there in Chicago.

Q: How has he helped your game?

"He was coaching me also at the age of, I think, 13. And I think taught me all aspects there, helping me become a better player and improve.

Q: Are you and Auston (Matthews) talking at all or is it phones away during this tournament?

"No, we haven't talked, but we'll talk when we see each other tonight."

Q: I asked Matthias Ekholm yesterday about how you're feeling about your game, not your personal game, but the team. I mean, you only lost in overtime. It's not like you've been blown out. How's your confidence going into tonight for that reason, that you've had good games, just haven't had the W?

"I mean, not too worried about the past. Just focusing on tonight and we want to leave our best foot forward here tonight, regardless of if we can go to the finals or not. So I think the focus is just on having the best game we can as a team."
