Domi's father, Tie, shared a video seven-time Superbowl winner taking the ice with some assistance.
ST. LOUIS — Tom Brady is widely celebrated as one of the greatest quarterbacks in football history. But does that skill translate to the ice?
We got a glimpse on Friday when former Toronto Maple Leafs player Tie Domi shared a video on his Instagram story showing Brady lacing up his skates for the first time.
The video was filmed at the New Jersey Devils' practice facility, adjacent to the Prudential Center. In the clip, Brady is seen using a skate helper—a device that assists beginners as they learn to navigate on the ice.
"I'm coming for you, Max," Brady jokes in the video as Tie records.
Ahead of the Maple Leafs' Saturday matchup against the St. Louis Blues at Enterprise Center, The Hockey News caught up with Max Domi for his thoughts on Brady’s first skate.
"To see him finally step into our shoes a little bit in our world, it's pretty spectacular," Domi said. "It's great for the game. I think he has a whole new appreciation for how hard it is just to skate, let alone play in an NHL game. But he's definitely a fan of it now."
The Domi family has enjoyed a longstanding friendship with Brady, who has stayed busy post-retirement. Aside from this skating adventure, Brady has ventured into broadcasting, taking on a lucrative contract with Fox Sports, and exploring various business ventures, including the wellness brand TB12 and an ownership stake in the Las Vegas Raiders.
On Saturday, Tie shared another video showing Brady’s progress—skating without the aid of the helper.

"Tom's one of my favorite athletes of all time, and obviously a close friend of ours. A guy I've always rooted for."
So, should Brady suit up for a Maple Leafs scrimmage someday? Let us know in the comments!
