Noah Gregor wasn't a free agent for very long.
The former Toronto Maple Leafs forward signed a one-year, $850,000 deal with the Ottawa Senators on the opening day of NHL free agency.
The Maple Leafs announced on Sunday that they elected not to tender the forward a qualifying offer after just one season with the club,
Gregor was picked up by the Leafs after a professional tryout (PTO), earning himself a spot after training camp. On a one-year contract with a cap hit of $775,000, Gregor played in 63 games, scoring six goals and adding six assists for 12 points. In the postseason, he would join the team in the latter half of their opening-round series against the Bruins, appearing in two games. He joined the Leafs after his previous team, the San Jose Sharks, didn't tender him a qualifying offer last year.
In this case, the Alberta native has a better situation than last year when he entered Toronto on that PTO.
This will be his third team. Gregor spent most of his NHL career in the San Jose Sharks organization.
