50 Cent held a concert in Boston on Saturday night, turning some heads when he strutted out on the stage.
All roads lead back to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
On Saturday night, the notable rapper ‘50 Cent’ brought his latest show to Boston. However, it wasn’t only the concert that left the crowd talking. In a bold move that likely ruffled some feathers in Massachusetts, 50 Cent took the stage wearing a Toronto Maple Leafs hat, trolling the hometown Boston Bruins fans.
The 49-year-old is no stranger to “trolling” other rappers and musicians. It shouldn’t come as that much of a surprise that given the Leafs and Bruins share one of the most storied rivalries in the sport, dating back to the ‘Original Six’, he went into his bag of tricks to stir the pot – choosing attire a clear jab at the local fans.
The video quickly surfaced across ‘X’ and onto the accounts of Leafs fans, who to say the least, found it amusing. Despite their team’s recent playoff woes, stemming back to the 2013 Game 7 collapse in TD Garden, it gave Toronto fans something to be elated about. The Leafs have gone 0-for-4 in their last four Stanley Cup playoff matchups against the Bruins, losing in the opening round in seven games in 2013, 2018, 2019, and 2024.
Though the Bruins have been a key reason for their playoff struggles in recent years, the club has failed to come through on numerous other occasions as well. Despite seemingly taking a step forward last spring, winning their first playoff series since 2004, the Leafs took another step back in the 2023-24 campaign, yet again coming up short against the Bruins when the postseason rolled around.
With one playoff series victory in the ‘Cour Four’ era since its arrival in the fall of 2016, the organization has been in a frenzy this summer. Plenty of questions still await answers but all signs point to the club “running it back” for one more year.
Perhaps the more important question is, will 50 Cent wear a Bruins hat when the show comes to Toronto on July 20 at Cabana Pool Bar, or be seen donning another rivalry like the Montreal Canadiens? That remains to be seen.
