Stolarz left Toronto's 3-2 victory against the Anaheim Ducks with a lower-body injury.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are preparing to be without goaltender Anthony Stolarz in the short term.

According to TSN's Darren Dreger, the club has recalled goaltender Dennis Hildeby from the Toronto Marlies as the club awaits further testing and results of Anthony Stolarz's lower-body injury.

Stolarz could not continue after the first period of the Toronto Maple Leafs' 3-2 win against the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday. It's not clear exactly what happened to the 30-year-old goaltender but some are speculating that the goaltender flexed his right leg in an unusual way after allowing a goal from Anaheim's Frank Vatrano at the 15:56 mark of the opening frame.

Joseph Woll came on in relief to start the second period, made 15 saves on 16 shots, and picked up the victory as well since he was the net goaltender for the game-winner.

Dennis Hildeby has played two games with the Maple Leafs this season. He made his NHL debut when Woll was injured to start the season and made 21 saves on 23 shots in a 4-2 win against the New Jersey Devils on Oct. 10. He has an .869 save percentage in two games this season.

With the Toronto Marlies, Hildeby is 2-2-2 with an .897 save percentage.

The Maple Leafs have a pair of games on back-to-back nights coming up beginning on Saturday against the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena, followed up by a home game on Sunday against the Buffalo Sabres. It's likely Hildeby would get one of those games if Stolarz remains injured through that time.

The Leafs signed Stolarz to a two-year, $5 million contract this summer. He has been Toronto's top-performing netminder with a 9-5-2 record and a .927 save percentage.

The Leafs are schedule to practice before heading to Detroit where more should be known about Stolarz' status.
