The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired center Colton Sissons on a two-year contract for $4.25 million per season.

The Toronto Maple Leafs made their first free-agent signing, inking center Colton Sissons to a new deal.

Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman provided the details of this Sissons contract being a two-year commitment at $4.25 million per season.

Sissons is a 32-year-old veteran who has played 756 career NHL games, including 690 with the Nashville Predators over 11 years. He spent this past season with the Vegas Golden Knights, as he was traded there in the 2025 off-season.

The right-handed center is a middle-six forward who would likely be a perfect fit for Toronto's third line. He thrives in the faceoff dot, winning 347 of 614 draws, performing at a 56.4 percent win rate.

Typically, he's utilized a lot more than he was in Vegas last season. He averaged 12:30 of ice time in 2025-26, which is the lowest ice time he received in his career since 2016-17. As a result, he recorded six goals and 11 points in 66 games.

In contrast, in his last season with the Predators, Sissons played 14:22 per game and scored seven goals and 21 points in 72 appearances.

Along with Sissons' faceoff ability and defensive responsibility, he will bring some Stanley Cup final experience.

Not only did he feature for the 2026 Cup finalists Golden Knights in the passing Stanley Cup playoffs, scoring eight points in 22 games, he also experienced the final with the Predators in 2016-17 when they were ultimately defeated by the Pittsburgh Penguins.

In the 2017 Cup final, Sissons scored six goals and 12 points in 22 games.
