Tanev was on the ice for two shifts before leaving Tuesday's game in Boston with an upper-body injury.

The Toronto Maple Leafs received good news on the status of defenseman Chris Tanev.
The 35-year-old left with an upper-body injury in the first period of Tuesday's 5-4 overtime win over the Boston Bruins. Tanev was on the receiving end of a hit from Bruins forward John Beecher and went to the dressing room shortly after.
Toronto held a practice on Wednesday in Boston with several players remaining off the ice because of maintenance, including Tanev. According to Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube, Tanev is day-to-day with the upper-body injury.
The defenseman, however, likely won't play Friday against the New York Rangers.
Tanev has missed just one game this season with Toronto. He averages nearly 20 minutes a night and has 151 blocks in 57 games, with him behind Anaheim Ducks defenseman Jacob Trouba (153) and Utah HC defender Ian Cole (154) for the NHL lead.
"I think Oliver Ekman-Larsson, (Jake) McCabe, and Mo (Morgan Rielly) have played really well lately. I thought Mo and OEL were great last night. They're going to have to step up," Berube said Wednesday.
"All the D are going to have to step up. Someone's going to have to come in and play for Tanev. We're going to need good minutes out of them. We're going to need penalty kill out of them. They all gotta dig in and step up."
Philippe Myers will be coming into the lineup for Tanev on Friday, Berube said. The 28-year-old has appeared in 23 games for the Maple Leafs this season, scoring one goal and three assists while averaging 16:20 of ice time.
Myers joined Toronto on a one-year, $775,000 contract in July before inking a two-year, $1.7 million extension in early January.
