Both Engvall and fiancée Matilda von Sicard shared matching engagement photos on their Instagram account.
It’s been a busy few months for Pierre Engvall and now you can add getting engaged to that list.
The New York Islanders forward proposed to girlfriend Matilda von Sicard and the couple shared matching engagement photos from their respective Instagram accounts on Monday.
Drafted in the seventh round (188th overall) by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2014 NHL Draft, Engvall became a diamond in the rough for Toronto and worked his way up the club's depth chart to become an everyday NHL player.
He scored 42 goals and added 41 assists in 226 games with the Leafs over four seasons before he was traded on Feb. 28 to the New York Islanders for a 2024 third-round draft pick.
Engvall, 27, scored five goals and added four assists in 18 games with the Islanders this season. He also added a goal and an assist in six playoff games for New York. That was enough for the Ljungby, Sweden native to earn himself a seven-year, $21 million dollar extension with the club.
From the trade in March to the big contract in July and then wrapping it up with an engagement, that's a lot of life changes in a short amount of time.
