Tyler Bertuzzi is a Toronto Maple Leaf.
The club announced on Sunday that they signed the 28-year-old forward to a one-year contract worth $5.5 million.
Bertuzzi was arguably one the of best remaining players available after many top free agents signed on the opening day of free agency.
According to PuckPedia.com, Bertuzzi will earn a maximum of $4.725 of the $5.5 million payout in a signing bonus and carry a $775,000 salary the rest of the way.
During his brief tenure with the Boston Bruins, Bertuzzi scored five goals and added five assists in seven playoff games. He had a bit of a down-year after scoring just eight goals and 22 assists last season in 50 games with the Bruins and Detroit Red Wings. In the 2021-22 season, Bertuzzi scored 30 goals and added 32 assists in 68 contests.
Bertuzzi moved from Detroit to Boston at the last trade deadline for a conditional first-round pick in 2024 and a fourth-round pick in 2025.
If the winger can replicate his playoff output of that of his 2021-22 season or his most recent playoff run, Bertuzzi should fit in nicely as someone who can help offensively in the team's top six.

Bertuzzi has gained recognition for his tenacious playing style, characterized by remarkable hand-eye coordination. Additionally, he has earned acclaim for his exceptional skill in approaching the puck from optimal angles and delivering precise passes.
He has the potential to be the skilled top-end talent that plays on the edge that The Leafs have potentially been missing.
