The Maple Leafs have 10 players about to hit free agency and David Kampf appears to be more of a focus for Toronto.

Could Alex Kerfoot and David Kampf return to the Toronto Maple Leafs next season?

According to TSN hockey insider Darren Dreger, the Maple Leafs are circling back to pending unrestricted free agents Alex Kerfoot and David Kampf.

Dreger points out that Kampf appears to be more of a focus than Kerfoot.

Both players are free to sign with another club when free agency opens on July 1.

The 28-year-old Kerfoot is coming off the final year of a four-year contract that carried a salary cap hit of $3.5 million. Offensively, the forward had a down year scoring just 10 goals and added 22 points in 82 regular season games. But he's a very popular player on the club and perhaps if the number can come in at a lower salary cap hit then it might back sense to bring him back.

Kampf is coming off the final year of a two-year contract that paid the forward that carried an average annual value of $1.5 million. The 28-year-old has spent his entire time on the team's bottom-six forward group as a defensive specialist and was one of the team's top penalty killers. Like Kerfoot, Kampf played in every game this season. He scored seven goals and added 20 assists.

Kerfoot and Kampf are two of 10 pending unrestricted free agents on the Maple Leafs roster. Other players the Leafs have reportedly spoken to about trying to retain include forwards Ryan O'Reilly and Noel Acciari as well as defenseman Luke Schenn.
