The Toronto Maple Leafs were primed to make some sort of moves as a couple of players are ready to come off long-term injured reserve. According to TSN's Mark Masters, Calle Jarnkrok was spotted on the ice for the first time since training camp before the Toronto Maple Leafs' morning skate on Tuesday. The 33-year-old forward was placed on long-term injured reserve prior to the start of the NHL's regular season, with Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube calling him day-to-day on Oct. 18. "Timetable, I don't know right now," the head coach added. Jarnkrok missed a large chunk of training camp due to a lower-body injury. Jarnkrok can return at any point given the 10 games and 24 days out requirement already passed. When the forward is ready to return, the Maple Leafs will need to remove someone from their active roster, as they're currently at the 23-man limit. Toronto will need to take two players off the active roster already with Connor Dewar and Jani Hakanpaa — both on a conditioning stint with the Toronto Marlies — nearing a return. The Maple Leafs signed Jarnkrok to a four-year, $8.4 million contract — which carries a cap hit of $2.1 million — on July 15, 2022. Primarily playing in Toronto's bottom six, Jarnrkok has scored 30 goals and 30 assists for 60 points in 125 games with the Maple Leafs. He has 301 points (136 goals and 165 assists) in 699 career NHL games, split between the Nashville Predators, Calgary Flames, Seattle Kraken, and Maple Leafs. Jarnkrok was drafted in the second round (51st overall) by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2010 NHL Draft. In 18 playoff games with Toronto, Jarnkrok has one goal and two assists while averaging 14:15 of ice time.
