The Arizona Coyotes just keep winning. They defeated the St. Louis Blues 4-1 on Saturday night marking their fourth consecutive win.
Going into Saturday night, the Coyotes were coming off victories against the Vegas Golden Knights, Tampa Bay Lightning and Colorado Avalanche, three Stanley Cup contenders.
Arizona picked up right where they left off from the previous three games as Alexander Kerfoot found Michael Carcone for a goal less than a minute into the game.
Carcone now has eleven goals on the season which is the most out of all Coyotes players, an impressive feat for a guy who just wanted a chance to showcase his skills at the NHL level and he is taking full advantage of his opportunity.
A few minutes later the Coyotes red hot power play went to work and Nick Schmaltz utilized his lethal shot to put the Coyotes up 2-0.
Kerfoot also got an assist on the Schmaltz goal and all of the sudden he had two points in just the first period. Through the past few games especially, Kerfoot has been exceptional, playing a solid game at both ends of the ice and it’s really starting to show. He ended the night with three points including an empty net goal.
Matias Maccelli said he wanted to shoot more and his shot sure does look better. He sniped the puck past Joel Hofer for his fourth goal of the season which put the Coyotes up 3-0.
The Coyotes arguably had their best period of the season in the first. They played at an extremely fast pace which was fun to watch to say the least. Arizona was dominant, looking like a playoff caliber team as it seemed they were going to outskate the Blues right out of the building.
While the Coyotes may have not looked as impressive through the final 40 minutes, they didn’t need to because once again Connor Ingram put on a show in net making spectacular saves left and right, frustrating the Blues offense.
His calm demeanor is contagious. When Ingram plays well the whole team rallies around him, a huge reason for the Coyotes recent winning ways.
Arizona is just playing with a confidence that is beginning to translate into wins. This is a new Coyotes team.
They are quick, physical and now that they are getting elite goaltending play, the Coyotes potential and expectations are a little but higher than many may have originally anticipated.
The Coyotes are back at it again on Monday night facing off against the Washington Capitals in search of their fifth consecutive victory.
