The Arizona Coyotes are getting back into a rhythm.
The Coyotes defeated the Washington Capitals 5-2 on Sunday afternoon marking their second consecutive victory.
Arizona came into this game riding high from their 5-3 win over the Ottawa Senators on Friday night which snapped a 14-game losing streak.
They picked up right where they left off as Logan Cooley scored a breakaway goal in the first period off of a beautiful Dylan Guenther feed and the Coyotes were up 1-0 after 20 minutes of play.
In the second period, Arizona completely dominated.
Defensively they were sharp and offensively the Coyotes played a speedy game, an aspect that it seems we haven't seen from this team in quite some time.
Jason Zucker, Michael Kesselring and Guenther all tallied goals in the second period, really putting this game out of reach for the Capitals.
Karel Vejmelka started his second straight game and was phenomenal. He recorded 24 saves while really making multiple acrobatic stops that looked to be sure-fire goals.
Guenther was another player that really stepped up against Washington. The 20-year-old had one goal, two assists and three points. He has been incredible since being called up in January and is continuing to prove how valuable he can really be for the Coyotes in the future.
The Coyotes are still far from a playoff stop in the Western Conference, but it’s good to see them finally winning games again and playing with a lot more confidence.
