The Arizona Coyotes’ misery continues as they suffered a 4-2 defeat to the Toronto Maple Leafs marking their fourteenth consecutive loss.
No matter what the Coyotes seem to do through the month of February, they have been on the losing end of things each and every game they have played.
It was no different against the Maple Leafs.
Arizona dug themselves into a three-goal deficit with Matthew Knies, Auston Matthews and Tyler Bertuzzi all getting onto the scoresheet.
This has been a recurring problem for the Coyotes throughout the entire season. This team always finds themselves trailing early in the game and are rarely able to recover.
The Coyotes ended the game strongly though. Goals from Alexander Kerfoot and Logan Cooley helped Arizona cut Toronto’s lead to just 3-2.
However, it was too little too late and the Coyotes couldn’t even up the score leading to yet another loss.
“Disappointing the way we started the game,” coach André Tourigny. “I think we were stubborn. We knew how to play, what we needed to exploit. We didn’t start the right way and that gave them chances and opportunities and some momentum. I think in the game we got better and got more success.”
The last time Arizona won a game was on January 22 and they have failed to record a single victory in the month of February.
There is not just much to say. For Coyotes’ fans, players, coaches and everyone around the organization, this has been a difficult month.
It’s not that the Coyotes have been playing badly every game, but all the losing is just demoralizing and draining to a certain point.
The Coyotes will have a good opportunity to snap this cold stretch on Friday night when they face the Ottawa Senators.
