The Coyotes search for a new arena may be closer to being finalized than originally anticipated.

The Arizona Coyotes may be pretty close to finding a new arena in the Valley.

According to PHNX Sports’ Craig Morgan, when the next arena announcement comes, it will be to announce the exact location of the arena site instead of hinting yet again at another potential site.

Morgan also reported that the Coyotes are looking to make this announcement by the end of the calendar year, however it could very well go into the first quarter of 2024.

While the Coyotes have not found a permanent arena yet, this news is an extremely positive sign, signalling that a deal is near. For fans of the Coyotes, this is great news.

It’s been weeks since any sort of news has come out on this matter so it seems progress is definitely being made regarding their hunt for a new arena. The Coyotes are also expected to avoid a public vote in any deal due to their failure to secure a permanent arena in Tempe after losing in a special election.

In August, Coyotes owner Alex Meruelo executed a letter of intent to purchase a parcel of land in northwest Mesa to potentially build a new sports arena and entertainment district for the franchise.

There is no further update if Mesa is indeed the city the Coyotes plan to build a home in, but based on this report a few months ago, it has to be a strong possibility.

The Coyotes are currently in the midst of their second season at Mullett Arena in Tempe as the organization continues to search for a permanent solution.
