While the Coyotes put up a valiant effort against the Bruins, their carless defensive play ultimately led to their demise.

The Arizona Coyotes dropped their second consecutive game losing 5-3 to the Boston Bruins at TD Garden.

The Coyotes won five straight games before losing 4-1 to the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night so they were looking to get back to their winning ways.

To start the first period, the Coyotes came out strong dominating puck possession while at one point leading 9-1 in shots.

However that would all change at the end of the first period as a defensive breakdown and sloppy turnover lead to goals from David Pastrňák and Charlie Coyle. By the end of the first 20 minutes of play, the Coyotes found themselves in a two-goal deficit similar to Thursday night’s debacle.

Boston extended their lead early in the second period making it 3-0 and this game seemed all but over. However, the Coyotes clearly did not view it that way as they scored two quick goals from Clayton Keller and Michael Carcone to cut the score to just 3-2.

The Coyotes have been down in many games this season, but they never give up, oftentimes showing off their resiliency in these kinds of moments.

While Arizona continued to battle hard throughout the rest of the contest, it wasn’t enough to overcome their early struggles against the Big Bad Bruins.

It’s really a shame because the Coyotes had some great moments and overall played a solid brand of hockey through most of the contest but sloppy defensive play and carless turnovers ultimately led to the team’s demise.

Another big reason for Arizona’s loss was they weren’t able to take advantage of opportunities. The Coyotes went 0-5 on the power play which just can’t happen when attempting to defeat a team like the Bruins.

In order to win these sorts of games, there is a small margin for error and the Coyotes just made one too many mistakes.

The Coyotes have to fix up the mistakes, but also shouldn’t be overly upset by this performance since for the majority of the game they looked great which is impressive especially in a hostile Boston environment.

The Coyotes will look to erase their current losing streak on Monday when they go to Buffalo, facing off against the Sabres.
