The Arizona Coyotes had a big third period against the San Jose Sharks on Sunday afternoon en route to a 5-2 victory.
Going into this game, the Coyotes were coming off of an emotional 7-4 win against the Vegas Golden Knights where they rallied from three goals.
Lawson Crouse opened the scoring with a power-play goal and Arizona led 2-1 after the first 20 minutes of play.
In the second period, the Coyotes committed four penalties which limited their offensive zone time and allowed San Jose to even up the score at 2-2.
It was in the third period when the Coyotes just completely took over.
Arizona’s offense came to play as they dominated puck possession and took full control with the help of Dylan Guenther and Clayton Keller who both recorded goals.
It wasn’t always pretty, but the Coyotes played at their best when they needed it most.
“I think we were alright in the first,” coach Andre Tourigny said. “In the second, we got carried away a little bit with a few penalties, but no game will be perfect. I think all in all, San Jose played a really good game, they played really hard, but we stayed with it and found a way to win.”
The Coyotes will be back in action on Tuesday night as they take on the Seattle Kraken.
