    Here are all live updates for the Arizona Coyotes season opener against the New jersey Devils

    The Arizona Coyotes take on the New jersey Devils in the team's season opener. Stay on this page for all live updates. 

    First Period:

    1:51- Coyotes start strong with two decent scoring opportunities.

    2:49- Logan Cooley takes his first NHL shot drawing generating his first scoring chance.

    6:22- Clayton Keller makes a shifty move in the offensive zone dishing the puck off to Matt Dumba For a Coyotes GOAL. The Coyotes now lead 1-0.

    6:37- J.J. Moser draws a high-sticking on Erik Haula. the Coyotes are now on the power play. Coyotes lead 1-0.

    8:30- Coyotes struggle on the power play. Devils had two short-handed opportunities while Arizona could not get anything going. Coyotes lead 1-0. 

    9:57- J.J. Moser gets called for an interference penalty. It's the devils turn to go on the power play. Coyotes lead 1-0.

    11:50- Devils had solid zone time but could not generate any major chances on the power play. the Coyotes survive and still lead 1-0.

    13:55- Jason Zucker was so close to extending the Coyotes lead but was robbed by the pad of Akira Schmid. The score remains 1-0 in favor of the Coyotes. 

    16:54- The Devils get there first great scoring chance. Jesper Bratt gets the puck past Karel Vejmelka but hits the crossbar. Coyotes lead 1-0. 

    End of First: The Coyotes lead 1-0 after the first period. Arizona looks great to start this game. They have maintained a lot of puck possession using their speed well. Karel Vejmelka looked sharp in net leaving New Jersey scoreless in the first. Matt Dumba scored the only goal in the period assisted by Clayton Keller and Nick Schmaltz. 

    Second Period:

    1:08- Logan Cooley sets up Lawson Crouse fora great scoring chamce but he snapped it up high over the net. Coyotes lead 1-0.

    3:00- Jonas Seigenthaler called for a interference penalty as the Coyotes go back to the power play.

    4:23- Sean Durzi rips the puck from the point for a GOAL. The Coyotes struck gold on the power play and now lead 2-0.

    4:23- Clayton Keller got his second assist on the Durzi goal while Cooley also got an assist tallying his first NHL point.

    6:38- Jack Hughes gets his best chance to score but is stopped once again by Karel Vejmelka who continues to look sharp. Coyotes lead 2-0.

    7:51- We are about to get our first four-on-four action as Logan Cooley is called embellishment while John Marino is called for interference. 

    8:09- Jack Hughes lays and beautiful pass for Jesper Bratt for a Devils GOAL. The Coyotes now lead 2-1.

    8:55- Luke Hughes called for a tripping penalty. The Coyotes go back to the power play as they still lead 2-1.

    10:46- Devils called for a delay of game penalty they just can't stay out of the box. Arizona goes back to the power play leading 2-1. 

    11:04- Nick Bjugstad called for a high-sticking penalty and we are back to four-on-four play. Coyotes lead 2-1.

    11:45- Now Jason Zucker is being accessed a tripping penalty in an attempt to stop Jack Hughes. This is madness! Devils go to the power play trailing 2-1.

    12:29- Dougie Hamilton takes a shot from the blue line for a GOAL. The Devils capitalize on the power play and tie the game at two.

    17:27- Jesper Bratt uses his speed to almost break free right in front of the net leading to a slashing penalty from Sean Durzi. The Devils go back to the power play. The game is still tied 2-2.

    17:57- Arizona cannot catch a break. Nick Bjugstad called for a tripping penalty on guess who: Jack Hughes. Devils now are set to go on a five-on-three with the game tied 2-2. 

    18:53- The Devils were playing keep away with the Coyotes on the five-on-three. Jesper Bratt found the puck at the bottom of the slot shooting it for a GOAL. Bratt scores his second goal and the Devils take a 3-2 lead.

    End of the second period- All seemed right for the Coyotes as Sean Durzi scored early in the second period giving Arizona a commanding 2-0 lead. However, the tide would change. The Coyotes couldn't stay out of the box and New Jersey scored three unanswered goals including two from Jesper Bratt. Arizona started the period up two but are now down 3-2. The momentum of this game has completely shifted and the Coyotes are going to stay out of the penalty box if they want to rally back.

    Third Period:

    1:26- Karel Vejmelka makes first big stop of the period on Luke Hughes. Devils lead 3-2

    4:06- Alexander Holtz takes a puck to the face exits to the locker room. Devils still lead 3-2. 

    5:43- The Coyotes have some life as Timo Meier is called for a tripping penalty. Arizona goes to the power play down 3-2.

    7:48- The Coyotes struggle on the power play being unable to generate any major scoring chances and are still trailing 3-2.

    10:07- This game has been pretty clean but for the first time, it got a bit chippy after an offside call. The Devils still lead 3-2.

    10:38- Barrett Hayton gets a golden opportunity from a great pass from Nick Schmaltz but Akira Schmid robbed him.

    12:12- Jesper Bratt had a breakaway chance but was denied by Karel Vejmelka. The score remains 3-2.

    13:55- The Coyotes found themselves on the power play. Logan Cooley drew a few Devils players and gave Nick Schmaltz a beautiful feed who buried the puck for a GOAL. Arizona ties the game 2-2. 

    13:55- Logan Cooley now has two points in his NHL debut. 

    18:00- The New Jersey crowd screaming with boos as they felt there should have been a penalty call on Josh Brown against Ondrej Palat. This game is still tied at 3-3 going down to the wire.

    End of the third period- The Coyotes showed heart tying the game and we are now headed to overtime. 

    Overtime- There were a multitude of chances in overtime but no team was able to score so this game is going into a shootout. 

    Shootout- Nick Bjugstad and Nick Schmaltz score in the shootout while Karel Vejmelka stands tall and the COYOTES WIN!
