The Utah Hockey Club ended a four-game road winless streak with its first-ever regulation road win in franchise history.

Dylan Guenther has been at the centre of big moments this season for the Utah Hockey Club.

You can add another big goal to his list: the one that got the franchise its first road regulation win ever.

It was his tally, taking a fortunate deflection off the back of Colton Parayko's left knee, fluttering into the net, that broke the tie with 3:21 left, lifting Utah (6-5-3) to a 4-2 win over the St. Louis Blues Thursday night at Enterprise Center.

"We had a few good games, but we didn't get the points," head coach Andre Tourigny said. "It was important for us to get the two points tonight."

The club also had to weather 40 minutes with five defencemen after Maveric Lamoureux was tossed for kneeing just seconds into the middle period, despite replays showing the rookie did not make forcible knee-on-knee contact with Alexey Toropchenko.

(There is no word yet on if Lamoureux will hear from the NHL's Department of Player Safety.)

Despite the controversy, Matias Maccelli gave Utah the well-earned 2-1 lead off a drop pass from Guenther after holding the Blues (7-7-0) to just two total shots in the entire period.

"Our D did a really good job," Tourigny said. "It's a big energy thing. You dig in, and that's where your character shows."

Guenther's goal also showed the character of the team; after Jordan Kyrou knotted the game just a couple minutes earlier, Guenther stole the puck at the blue line to generate a 2-on-1.

As he tried to centre the puck for Logan Cooley, Guenther's pass nicked off the back of Colton Parayko's right knee and past goaltender Joel Hofer to put Utah on top.

Jack McBain closed out the scoring with an empty-net goal with 3.7 seconds left in the game after a crucial face-off win.

"There's emotion in our game, and we need to learn to live with that," Tourigny said. "Sometimes, you want to do too much, but fortunately, we found a way."
