Since the Coyotes started training camp, Jason Zucker has really taken Logan Cooley under his wing which is why this injury could be difficult for the 19-year-old.

Jason Zucker’s injury impacts the Arizona Coyotes as a whole but also specifically affects rookie forward Logan Cooley.

The Coyotes announced Monday that Zucker is listed as week-to-week with a lower body injury that he suffered in Saturday’s game against the Anaheim Ducks.

For Cooley, this injury does not come at the best time.

Since the start of training camp, Zucker has taken Cooley under his wing. Being around the team, it’s clear that the two have become extremely close.

The start of an NHL career is always the most difficult. Young players take time to fully adapt to professional play and it is certainly not easy. Cooley has adjusted well, tallying four assists through the first five games and overall seems pretty comfortable.

However, he is yet to score his first NHL goal which for a 19-year-old like Cooley, could possibly be something on their mind that they are looking to overcome.

Having a player with the amount of NHL experience that Zucker has is important for Cooley especially early on.

Zucker also played on a line alongside Cooley so losing that linemate that he gained chemistry with all through training camp will be an adjustment.

Thankfully for the Coyotes, Zucker’s injury is not deemed as long term so he should be back playing with Cooley sooner rather than later.
