Through the first eleven games of the season, Sean Durzi has really stepped up as the Coyotes top defenceman.

The Arizona Coyotes have been in search of a number one defenceman for years. Now they have finally found one.

The Coyotes traded for defenceman Sean Durzi from the Los Angeles Kings this offseason and to say he is performing well to start the season would be an understatement.

Through eleven games, he is tied with the top defenceman in goals, tallying four while he has three assists and seven points.

There is an argument to be made that Durzi is the Coyotes most valuable player. He currently plays 22:44 minutes a game which is the most on the team.

The 25-year-old also serves a key role running the point on the power play, using his powerful shot and smooth skating to be an effective quarterback on the man advantage.

Durzi is just a steady defenceman, He is calm with the puck on his stick, is an excellent skater which allows him to contribute offensively while he tends to make very few mistakes.

Since coming to Arizona, Durzi has stepped up his game tremendously. He is currently logging over two more minutes per game than he did last season and is set to break career highs in all statistical categories.

Durzi should continue to play this important role throughout the entirety of the season as he has truly found his place as the team’s top defenceman.
