The Arizona Coyotes Prospect Development Camp is expected to start today and go until July 7.
It's an exciting week for Coyotes fans as they get to watch the team’s young prospects and draft picks live in action. Most of these prospects have not played a single game for Arizona yet so it's their time to prove why they deserve a roster spot in the future.
Who are the most notable players attending development camp for the Coyotes?
The ninth overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, right winger Dylan Guenther, actually played 33 games for the Coyotes this past season where he had six goals, nine assists and 15 points. As he looks to carve out a permanent role in the NHL, all eyes will be on Guenther this week to see if he has improved and find out if he is ready to take on a larger role this upcoming year.
Logan Cooley, the third overall pick in the 2022 Draft, is a highly touted prospect. The 19-year-old center played for the University of Minnesota last season tallying 22 goals, 38 assists and 60 points in 39 games. He was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award, given to the best NCAA hockey player. While Cooley is expected to return to Minnesota next year, being one of the team’s top prospects he will still be a major draw for fans to see how he has developed thus far.
Maveric Lamoureux was selected with the 29th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft. The 6-foot-7 defenseman is coming off a season with the Drummondville Voltigeurs of the QMJHL where he had five goals, 14 assists and 19 points in 35 games. Lamoureux has a ton of potential and this development camp should be a sign to see where the young defenseman is at with his game.
Arizona’s 2023 38th overall pick Michael Hrabal will put on the Coyotes sweater for the first time. The 6-foot-7 goaltender prospect was picked in the second round because of his potential as a future franchise goalie. He may not be in the NHL for a few years but this will be the fans first glimpse to watch Hrabal in action before he goes to the NCAA to play for the University of Massachusetts.
