If you look at the Utah Hockey Club's 4-4-1 record, you might think it's a reasonable start.
But Andre Tourigny knows results matter, and the team is facing a critical juncture early in the season with tonight's game against the San Jose Sharks at Delta Center.
The club, coming off a 3-2 loss in Los Angeles Saturday, has now lost five of its last six games, including three consecutive regulation losses, having not won a game in regulation since opening night against Chicago.
"It's us against us," Tourigny said. "We need to play our A-game as often as we can. We surprised a lot of teams, and now we don't want to be one of them."
The club certainly did play its A-game Saturday in Los Angeles, with major lineup changes proving to provide the spark Utah needed.
It's no surprise, then, Tourigny said he's sticking with the same lines, with a few tweaks, such as Liam O'Brien making his first start since October 16 at Anaheim.
He also credited the leadership group, led by Clayton Keller and Lawson Crouse, for staying consistent and "doing their thing" over the last few games, despite the obvious speed bump.
"If you looked how we played in the last five, six games, we just didn't get the result we wanted," Tourigny said. "We'll have some nights where we're human, we just don't want it today.
