Hear from the Utah HC defenceman and Tucson Roadrunners head coach as the club wrapped up its Rookie Face-Off with a 5-3 loss to the Golden Knights Monday.

The Utah Hockey Club is now a little over 12 hours from opening full training camp with media day at Delta Center.

Before that, they fell 5-3 to the Vegas Golden Knights in their Rookie Face-Off finale in El Segundo, California, despite rallying from an early 3-0 deficit.

Here's what defenceman Maveric Lamoureux and Tucson Roadrunners head coach Steve Potvin had to say about last night's near-comeback.

Tucson Roadrunners head coach Steve Potvin on the early deficit
"When you're down by three in the last game, you can get down on yourself. It's a good test of character, and I thought our guys pushed back and passed with flying colors."

Potvin on Maveric Lamoureux's Gordie Howe hat trick
"He's a guy that can play in the dirty areas, but he's also a guy that can make plays. It gave our guys a pretty good boost."

Defenceman Maveric Lamoureux on his fight
"Whenever one of your teammates (Lipkin) gets hit, it's just good to have his back. It's just a natural thing to go in and defend him."

    Lamoureux on upcoming training camp
"Playing two games here was perfect for me. I want to make the big team, so we'll see."

    Potvin on Rookie Face-Off overall
"We were able to pull a lot of information from this tournament. The guys had to respond after the first loss, and they did; we made improvements in the second game, and we needed a response in the third game. Those are the situations we want to judge our guys in."
