The Arizona Coyotes are set to go on their longest break of the 2023-24 season.
The Coyotes will not play another game until February 8 when they take on the Vegas Golden Knights.
This All-Star break will be critical for the Coyotes as they get ready to embark on the final months of the season.
Through 48 games, the Coyotes have a 23-22-2 record and 49 points while they are four points out of a wild card spot in the Western Conference.
The Coyotes have exceeded expectations, but they are currently on a three-game losing streak and are in dire need of a refresher.
Arizona has been forced to deal with a multitude of injuries to some important players including Barrett Hayton, Matt Dumba, Troy Stecher and Travis Dermott.
With over a week off, these players will have plenty of time to recuperate and get healthy even if some of them don’t return immediately following the break.
The Coyotes still have a legitimate chance to make the playoffs and over a week off should help them re energize and be ready for the difficult and grueling schedule that is upon them.
“We just need to take a good break right now, mentally and physically because staying in that grind, staying in that hunt, it’s not just tough physically it’s also tough emotionally,” coach André Tourigny said. “Thank god we are going to break because we’ll need a few days to recover.”
One break can change everything. Who knows, maybe the Coyotes will look like a completely different and rejuvenated team in a couple of weeks.
